Almost all the actors and actresses in our creative arts industry will forgo stage performance for a performance in a film or movie because of the luxury of elements such as rehearsals, multiple retakes, camera shots, angles and movements, standby directors etc. that complement performances in films or movies.

It takes a daring and great professional of an actor or actress to opt for the stage to slay their performances even more than they can do in films or movies. On the stage, you are on your own; there is no guarantee of a retake so a single mess up could become a nightmare in your career.

One actress in Ghana who is never lost when seen on stage is Lydia Forson, why? It’s because she is just making a comeback after her expedition in movies, scripting, production and a host of other stuffs within the acting business.

At 32 years, the Mankessim born outspoken actress is decorated with a lot of achievements in her acting career. She’s never looked back after making a cameo role in Hotel St. James (2005) and later she attracted supporting roles in Run Baby Run (2006), Different Shades of Blue (2006), she also had a stint in a reality show “The Next Movie Star” in Nigeria where she placed fourth. After that hard earned experience, she’s featured in almost all the A-list award winning movies coming out of Ghana. This includes Scorned (2008), which gave her a nomination in the AMAA’s, Perfect Picture (2009), which earned her AMAA’s best actress in a lead role and  A Sting in A Tale (2009).

She is one Ghanaian actress whose works extends out of the shores of Ghana. She was in Masquerade (2011) and Phone Swap (2012), both are Nigerian production and also made an appearance in South African series known as Scandal (2013). In her quest to give back to the industry that made her, Lydia produced her first movie “A letter to Adam”.

It took her all over the world premiering it and also receiving nominations and awards for its quality. It has not always been movies, somewhere in 2010, Lydia made an appearance in a stage play titled “Vagina monologue”, she became an instant hit there too so she felt in love with the stage and promised to come back when the need arises.

Now she is back and she will be playing the role of Jacky Simons in Page to stage Productions latest play to hit all the major cities in Ghana this November titled “Whose daughter is she?”

As strong as she is, her character portrays a young innocent lady who has lost faith in love, her personality, humanity and God after she faced with many challenges in life. Lydia’s role will teach audience to learn to accept who they are and live beyond self berate and pleasing people. Akwasi Nyame Tumi, the young creative brain behind “What happened to Courtship” seems not to be slowing down with his surprises.

In “Whose daughter is she?” Lydia plays alongside Nollywood ‘s Tonto Dikeh and Kumawood’s darling boy Bill Asamoah . “Whose Daughter is she?” is a musical play with enough dose of comedy for positive self esteem, self confidence and positive self love

Second on my list of addictions is Movies.. the only thing I could possibly love more is my Dearest Waakye lol. Nothing else does a better job of reminding me that ANYTHING is possible with the right amount of effort. I have great eye for details and flaws in scripts. Shallow scripts bore me. I am an avid reader. Your everyday Mr Nice guy. Always the last to speak in a room full of smart people. Half Human, half Martian but full MOVIE FREAK.
